Right A Panel - Cut off

As the car is deseamed replacing the A panel in the normal way will involve re-doing the deseaming so I may as well just replace the rotten bottom section. Grind off the fold round the door post as usual, then cut horizonatally across to where the A panel meets the wing.

Right A Panel - make new

A Panels are so cheap it makes no sense to try and make up the part to fit. So using the peice just removed as a template, cut the bottom off the new panel. Two holes are drilled top and bottom so the panel can be button welded to the door post.

Right A Panel - Weld

New panel seam welded into place. Done in short bursts at opposite ends to try and prevent heat distortion.

Weld ground back flush with a flap disc (less fierce than a normal grinding disc). Final finishing will be done later.
